WELCOME TO THE AUSTRALIAN GINGER INDUSTRY ASSOCIATION

The Australian Ginger Industry Association (AGIA) represents the Australian Ginger Industry.
We  work with growers and supply chain stakeholders to exceed world class standards for producing ‘Food, Safe, Quality Ginger’. We develop partnerships to invest in world leading research and development projects that deliver biosecurity, production and sustainability outcomes.

AGIA is an industry representative body and non-profit membership organisation promoting the interests of the Australian ginger industry.

ABOUT GINGER

History

Ginger was transported to Australia on the first fleet. The spice was in great demand in Britain and was considered a potential economic crop for the new colony.

It would take about another 150 years before it was grown commercially.
