Question: When will the Emergency Plant Pest Response (EPPR) Levy Ballot take place?
Answer: The Ballot will open on 6/7/17 and close at 6 pm on 20/7/2017.
Question: How do I vote?
Answer: You will be able to vote at the Field Day on Thursday 6/7/17.
Alternatively you will be able to vote electronically or by postal ballot.
Question: Why should I vote for this Levy?
Answer: Voting yes to the ballot will provide assurance for the ginger industry that when certain criteria are met, the necessary resources and finances will be available to mount a response to an incursion. If biosecurity authorities assess the outbreak as capable of being eradicated, the EPPR levy will be activated and growers will be eligible for owner reimbursement costs.
Question: What is the No case?
There have been no objections to the implementation of this Levy which is initially set at Nil. However if there is no industry support for the EPPR levy, the industry will be without any assurance or agreement from government that the cost of an incursion is shared and underwritten upfront by the Commonwealth.
